Lee's birthday party 1-3

time to open presents. i chopped up the video so it wouldn't be too big to send or load. so there are 6 separate videos but they're all the same time, except the last bit has a time warp... alex helped lee get the stuff out of the box, which meant alex checked it all out while lee checked out the packing material... i was busy saying hi to aunt cindy who just walked in so i stopped filming.

what do you do when your 1 year old is screaming and you know your 3 year old is certainly to blame? TEACH them! this is the best part of my life. today eli turned off the light when he was done inth e bathroom- good move right, no. not when lee is still in there. but instead of turning the light back on for her he danced away as she cried. so after lee was saved from the dark... we all sat down and read 1 peter 4:7-11. it may sound like a long passage for toddlers, but they ate it up easily with help from mommy and as i type this lee is running for the bathroom to go potty and eli is one step ahead of her yelling- "i turned the light on for lee! i used my gift to give her grace! (his gift is being tall enough to reach the light switch and the grace is that she doen't deserve the light on, but it's something nice he can do for her) i'm bringing glory to God!"

it is so nice when we are clear minded and self-controlled because it is then we are able to pray and love, and that love allows us to help others sin be covered and even stopped in some cases. if eli is consumed with anger and jealousy he will not be clear minded and will lose himself to those emotions which will be seen in a lack of self-control. but if he is clear minded he is able to choose to pay attention to lee's needs and wants and as a result she will spend less time throwing fits, less time sinning- because that is all a fit is- giving full vent to your anger. (verse 8) if eli chooses to be hospitable in his 3 year old way- turning on the light for her- and he does it without complainging he is bringing glory to God through his obedience to the word of God. (verse 9) if he uses his gift of height to reach the light for her he is administering God's grace to her. (verse 10) if eli chooses to speak to her softly and says only things that he knows God would say, and serves Lee like he knows Jesus would serve Lee, Eli a 3 year old can bring praise to God. and eli does know what words God would say and what ways Jesus serves because he reads his bible everyday with me. This is what makes life amazing, watching my children walk in truth. unfortunatly it is also what makes life so hard, watching my children reject the truth when they chose sin- like right now as i type they are fighting over a matchbox car, apparently the red one with the t-top is the best and neither is willing to sacrifice for the other so screaming and fighting errupts, so now it's back to an open bible to see what God has to say about sacrifice and sharing.
hopefully when they are all grown up i will have learned half as much as i have taught them through the Word of God. my prayer is this blog encourages you as you raise your children for the Lord by working in your heart first and then allowing you to pass what you learn to them, or if you don't have children to take these lessons into your own heart and be changed by the word of God. Please write me how you are using his word in your lives so that i may be encouraged also. to God be the glory!

daddy and his little mister going for a walk

me and david and our 2 kids went to the "river" it is actully just a squishy river bed this time of the year with a cople streams running through the deeper channels. but it was absolutly beautiful. the trees are at peak folage right now and it felt just like i was driving along the kangamangus or out in vermont. i could almost taste those maple sugar leaf candies that we'd get when we'd drive to vermont for foliage season. hey anyone in new england wanna mail me a maple leaf candy? they don't know what i'm talking about out here!
